Research
SRL’s research ranges from historical and archaeological reconstruction to questions concerning individuals, the transmission of knowledge, and institutional information systems, as well as generative AI and AI-supported research processes.
Research Approach
SRL examines how claims and connections emerge from sources, findings, and existing representations. Hypotheses are tested against the available evidence, competing hypotheses, and alternative explanations, and remain open to revision.

Generative AI is an integral part of this research. It enables multiple lines of inquiry to be pursued in parallel and accelerates cycles of research, testing, and revision. At the same time, SRL investigates how these processes can be given a persistent and verifiable structure, and what forms of oversight are required when work is extensively divided between humans and AI.
